Yesterday, we celebrated America, our democracy, and the start of a new era.

After taking his official oath, President Joe Biden gave an inspiring and uplifting inauguration speech reminding us of the unity, compassion, and strength that make our country so incredibly resilient.

Like President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris — the first woman ever and first woman of color to be sworn in as VP — took her vow to put the people of this country and our Constitution above all else.

It was a breath of fresh air following four years of hateful rhetoric, conspiracy theories, inflammatory tweets, and corrupt special interests that infiltrated the White House. I was honored to stand by my colleagues and witness this historic moment. And I'm beyond grateful to have the opportunity to serve in Congress under this new leadership as we look ahead to a brighter future for America.

There is lots of work to be done to repair the damage endured by the Trump administration, but I'm looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and digging right in.
