Hey there --
Now that the House has voted to impeach the president, he will have to stand trial in the Senate. If the Senate convicts him, the Washington Post reports he could face some severe consequences:
He could lose his six-figure lifetime pension.
He could lose his annual travel budget.
And most importantly, the Senate could vote to disqualify him from ever serving in federal office again.
Unfortunately, Mitch McConnell has refused to reconvene the Senate before the inauguration. While Congress could still push to hold Trump accountable after he's left office, the timeline and details of conviction will be a whole lot murkier, and significantly more difficult.
WDTO is working around the clock to support Democratic candidates who are committed to holding Trump accountable and unseat every single Trump loyalist in 2022 -- but we're running low on funds right when we need to be combatting GOP attacks on our democracy.
