The Joint Chiefs of Staff for the U.S. military were forced to issue a chilling reassurance in response to the Capitol riots last week: that they “remain fully committed to protecting and defending the Constitution of the United States.”
That such an affirmation is necessary is a horrifying reflection of the instability and chaos that the Trump administration has sewn into our country these past four years.
We must rebuild and strengthen our nation with leaders who will restore safety and certainty. With your help, we've got a blue Senate and a blue White House and even odds at doing just that.
But while Trump's administration may be coming to a close, extremism and instability is far from gone. Newly elected lawmakers continue to directly threaten our democracy by encouraging Americans to embrace unfounded radicalism and continuing indoctrinating a new generation. Freshman GOP congresswoman Mary Miller even went so far as to quote Hitler when describing her plans for the future, saying, “Hitler was right on one thing. He said, ‘Whoever has the youth has the future.”
Wow. Actually, Rep. Miller, we'd rather not trust you with our future. Now is the time for us to band together to protect and support our progressive champions. But we're falling low on funds, and therefore falling apart when we should be holding strong in face of the enemies that come after Trump.
