The Biden-Harris administration will have to hit the ground running. With a worsening pandemic, the threat of further Trump-fueled violence, and widespread economic hardship — President-elect Biden will tackle unparalleled challenges in his first days in office.

We are asking the Biden-Harris administration to:

• Expand access to reproductive healthcare by removing harmful and medically unnecessary restrictions on medication abortion during COVID-19;
• Initiate a comprehensive FDA review of medication abortion — a safe, effective, FDA-approved option for ending an early pregnancy — so that people’s access to care reflects science, not politics;
• Rescind Trump’s executive actions limiting access to care, including the dangerous global gag rule;
• Ensure that the President’s budget advances reproductive freedom and excludes discriminatory restrictions on abortion coverage; and
• Nominate and appoint judges with positive records on reproductive freedom and justice.

Just yesterday, in a decision sought by the Trump administration, the Supreme Court decided to reinstate an unnecessary restriction that forces people to travel to a hospital, clinic, or medical office to access medication abortion care — despite the still-raging COVID-19 pandemic. We cannot let the sheer scope of the problems we face deter us from undoing the severe — and ongoing — damage done by the Trump administration to our reproductive freedom.
