Winning this brutally competitive congressional district in Maine was never a given.

Frankly, it was an extremely difficult election to win.

Even in the final days leading up to the finish, experts like Nate Silver, Cook Political Report, and Inside Elections all rated this district as a toss-up.

Dark money groups were spending millions of dollars to boost my opponent on voters’ TVs.

But against all odds, I went on to beat an entrenched politician who was ignoring Maine’s working families in favor of his special interest donors.

We were called a long-shot campaign in 2018 -- and those experts are saying the same thing now.
