Dear John,
Take a moment to imagine living in a city that cares for all of us.
Where New Yorkers, regardless of who they are or where they come from, can walk the streets without fear. Where everyone can earn a living wage and be treated with respect in their workplace. Where we are actively working to mitigate climate change and prevent the next crisis. Where we marshal all our resources to tackle our greatest challenges.
Some might call this vision too idealistic. But I know that most New Yorkers share these goals. The past year has fully revealed that the status quo is unsustainable and unjust -- and a better future is within reach.
This has been a difficult week in an already dark period of our history. If you’re frustrated, enraged, or grieving, you’re not alone -- believe me.
But look at what we’ve built together in the last year alone. We set up mutual aid networks. We made check-in calls to our most vulnerable neighbors. We passed protections for essential workers (and we’re working on more). We battled voter suppression and elected a new president who will deliver relief and take the pandemic seriously (and we’ve built a movement ready to hold him to those commitments).
And in 2021, we have a unique opportunity to turn the page on the failed policies of the past and elect bold new leaders across the city. If we can unite behind our vision of a city that works for all of us, I know we can deliver the transformative change we need.
So please, if you’re able, make a donation of $5 or any amount before midnight to fuel this people-powered, grassroots-funded effort to victory in just a few months →
Thank you so much for all you do,
-- Brad
