Trump continues to show that he'll stop at nothing to maintain power: question the Georgia runoff results, continue to deny Joe Biden's victory in November, and even encourage his fanatical followers to storm the Capitol, a clear coup attempt. And yet he and his lackeys are still spouting fiction about nonexistent fraud in order to throw doubt over the legitimate results of the Georgia runoffs.
By all accounts, Election Day went even smoother on January 5 than in November, with voter protection lawyers reporting no major issues with voting machines or long lines at polling places.
But that didn’t stop President Trump from blaming Dominion machines, which he has repeatedly targeted with baseless conspiracy theories, for supposedly “compromising” Republican votes. Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger shot down the claim immediately, noting that every voter was able to cast a ballot and the issues were resolved by 10 a.m.
The fact is, Kelly Loeffler, David Perdue, and Donald Trump were afraid of this election. They knew that organizers across Georgia have been working tirelessly to activate Democrats across the state, including thousands of first-time voters. They knew Georgians have pegged them for phony crooks who have profited from their high offices and have no respect for democracy, the will of the people, or a peaceful transition of power.
And now that they know that they’ve lost, we know they won’t hesitate to go to any lengths to avoid their fate -- even if it means snatching away their constituents’ constitutional right to vote and telling tall tales about the Republican officials who administer the elections.
