Earlier this evening I sent an unfinished email that, when read out loud, sounds harmful and otherizing. The language was a typo, something that should have been caught during proofreading. While the process is important to share for transparency reasons, I apologize for any misunderstanding, wrongful impact or harm caused. In no way is this reflective of the candidate or the campaign; the error was mine. I thank my team and supporters for holding me accountable, and in many ways that’s why I am humbled to be a part of this team. Below is the finished version.

As a white, male organizer fighting for a #PoliticsForAllPeople, I recognize - and am committed to the importance of supporting the leadership of Black women. We can’t allow ourselves to be fooled by others who speak the language of transformation even as they have spent their careers embedded in and contributing to the status quo.
