Stacey Abrams is letting it be known far and wide that her home state is fired up for their Senate runoffs today. After announcing on CBS that over 1.2 million Georgians have already requested absentees ballots, she went on to explain:

“As we head into a moment where Georgians face 160,000 evictions, we’ve had 4.1 million job loss claims, one-in-four businesses, small businesses have shut down during this pandemic, David and Kelly have done nothing. In fact, they have done nothing but cater to Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump instead of fighting for Georgia.”

We rallied hard for change last year -- and although we voted Joe Biden and Kamala Harris into the White House, the truth is we’ll still need to fuel this final push to ensure their leadership makes a difference.

If Democrats win both seats in the Georgia Senate runoffs today, we will control the Senate starting on January 20 -- and Kamala Harris will have the power to break ties in the chamber while Mitch McConnell is sidelined.

That future is possible -- and it isn’t far-fetched. Both Democratic candidates, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, put up a good fight against their Republican opponents in the general election. And we saw in real time how grassroots action flipped Georgia blue for Joe Biden for the first time in decades.

But the GOP is counting on your apathy to keep its Senate majority.

In all but one Georgia runoff since the 1960s, Republican vote share margins improved from the general election -- all because Democratic turnout fell sharply. We need to ensure that every eligible Democratic voter is heard so Democrats can finally take back the Senate -- but right now, we don’t have the funds we need to make this future happen.

 

The fact is, if Republicans keep control of the Senate, you know they’ll block all of the progressive legislation we fought so hard to defend in this election. Mitch McConnell would love nothing more than to prevent the blue wall from reaching Washington. But we have the power to make sure it does. We could soon have a Senate that works for us -- but we need your help. Will you pitch in whatever you can now to help us take back the Senate and ensure that every single eligible Democratic voter casts their ballot in the Georgia runoffs?
