Team –
On Sunday, I was honored to be sworn into the 117th Congress for another term serving the people of Rhode Island’s First District.
Humbled, grateful, thankful – all emotions that I felt as I stood with my colleagues, part of the most diverse Congress in history, and swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
Our task is urgent. A global pandemic, an economic downturn, climate change, racial justice, gun violence, and threats to our democracy all demand our attention immediately.
Just this past weekend, as we were winding down the holidays and preparing the work of a new Congress, President Trump called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and asked him to overturn the results of the presidential election in Georgia.
Joe Biden will take office in 15 days – but the deep damage being done to our democracy by Donald Trump and his allies in Congress right now will linger in our institutions for years to come.
We need leaders in Congress who will stand up for democracy, no matter the partisan lines. We need leaders willing to do the right thing for the American people – not the thing that will garner them the most favor with party leaders.
I am always grateful for the honor of being that leader for my constituents in Rhode Island, and I am eager to get to work. And I am thankful for supporters that remain consistently invested in our success and understand the importance of the times we are facing right now.
I will need you with me as Republicans put everything they have into flipping the House back to GOP control in 2022. Will you become one of my first grassroots donors of 2021, today? A donation of any amount will put you on our 2021 Founding Member list.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
I hope you had a great holiday season. Thank you for all your support in 2020. Let’s keep it going.
