Today is the day we end McConnell's Senate gridlock.

We remember what it's like to have a Democratic president but a Republican-led Senate -- it's a nightmare. The promise of progressive change is so close: Expanding health care, taking bold action on climate change, rewriting tax codes so that they benefit us all and not just a few at the top. We're constantly excited by the great ideas and policies that our Democratic leaders want to enact -- but then Mitch McConnell steps in, and with just a two-vote majority in the Senate, McConnell is able to stop every single thing Democrats try to pass. Our senators won't even get the chance to vote.

Republicans now hold 50 seats in the Senate, friend. That means if the GOP wins just 1 of the Georgia runoff elections, they'll have a 51 vote majority and be able to gridlock Joe Biden the same way they did Barack Obama.

Right now we have a rapidly closing window to change our energy policies before we reach the point of no return on climate change. We have kids in cages. We have millions of Americans out of work and worrying that their jobs may never return, even after this pandemic. We have hundreds of thousands of Amercans who have lost their lives to COVID-19, some of them family, some of them neighbors.

And we at When Democrats Turn Out are infuriated that nothing can get done on these issues if McConnell keeps his stranglehold on the Senate. We know McConnell will double down on his obstruction now that Trump has been defeated. McConnell doesn't care who he hurts so long as he also impedes Democrats. And that's why our country's future hinges on these Senate runoff elections in Georgia.

The good news is that we know we have what it takes to win Georgia and flip the Senate. If Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock win their run-offs, then Democrats will also hold 50 seats in the Senate. That would result in a 50/50 tie, with Kamala Harris as VP casting the tie-breaking votes.

This time, it'll be us who get to say no to Mitch McConnell.

But we MUST win BOTH special elections in Georgia if we want the opportunity to take back our country and finally pass progressive legislation through a Democratic-led House, a Democratic-led Senate, and with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House. If we fail, Mitch McConnell will continue to be the "Grim Reaper" of progressive legislation

And that's exactly what Republicans want. It's why they've funneled a massive amount of resources into Georgia -- all in a last-ditch effort to keep their stranglehold on Washington and on the country.

Please, we've asked a lot of you this election, but we're counting on YOU again right now to rush Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock the resources they'll need to make their final stand against their GOP opponents. We already flipped Georgia for the presidential race, and we can turn Georgia blue again today.
