Take a moment, John, to consider the potential outcomes of Tuesday’s runoffs.
If we fail to remove Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue from office, McConnell will continue to rule the Senate. Fidelity to Trump over democracy, and egregious abuses of office will be rewarded.
Cozying up to klansmen and QAnon conspiracy theorists will have paid off for Loeffler—and Perdue’s neglect and outright indifference towards Georgians will earn him another term.
The other option is to unseat these Trump loyalists, and once again prove Georgia is above the Republican Party’s politics of ignorance, corruption, and bigotry.
A 50-50 Senate is no rubber stamp for Democrats, but it will allow compromise and cooperation to be driving forces in Washington for the first time in decades.
It will enable Joe Biden to lead and heal this country from the center, and be a president for all Americans.
Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock will fight for all Georgians instead of the wealthy and privileged few.
They are Georgia’s—and America’s—best hope for a return to normalcy, decency, and honorable leadership.
John, both of these races are down to the wire. We cannot afford to let this election go by without giving it everything we’ve got.
