“I think that a sitting U.S. senator exploiting his office, exploiting his access to privileged information, exploiting his power to enrich himself, while his own constituents are suffering and dying, absolutely makes Senator Perdue a crook,” Perdue’s challenger Jon Ossoff recently told CNN. “And he's afraid to come out and debate me, because he won't answer these charges, because he can't defend the indefensible.”

Senator Perdue has exposed himself as someone who misuses his power, time and time again -- and we don’t need any more of those kinds of leaders in the Senate. And if Jon Ossoff unseats him, it’ll mean more than just a win at a state level -- it might lead to Democrats gaining control of the Senate.

But Ossoff’s race is going to be tight, and we can’t take Democratic voter turnout for granted. That’s why When Democrats Turn Out is fundraising for his campaign in addition to our own efforts, so that those working on the ground in Georgia to mobilize voters have the resources they need. But we’re running low on funds, and Ossoff’s campaign needs all the support it can get.

 

Friend, you know how high the stakes are. Mitch McConnell and the Republican Senate have ruled with impunity these past four years -- and if they maintain their control, Biden’s and Harris’s ability to make the meaningful change we’ve been waiting for is going to be drastically hindered.
