Hello,
The Washington Post: “[Kelly] Loeffler, who faces a Jan. 5 runoff election against the Rev. Raphael Warnock, senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, is decrying Warnock as a “radical’s radical”... But her case relies largely on a 2008 Fox News interview that has been mischievously clipped.”
We’re not surprised that the GOP is relying on dirty tricks to draw voters away from Warnock in this crucial runoff -- especially when it could determine if Republicans keep control of their only possible point of power in Washington in the Senate.
Loeffler’s attacks are only getting bolder as Tuesday draws near, probably because, according to USA Today, “Georgia might not be a right-of-center state anymore and the electorate that shows up to vote on Jan. 5 might not be the same electorate where [GOP] tactics have worked historically.”
Democrats and progressive organizers on the ground turned Georgia blue this election for the first time in decades -- by overruling Republican voter suppression tactics in the state, registering thousands of first-time voters, and ensuring that Democrats from all communities made it to the polls.
And we can do it all again to help Warnock flip the Senate blue once and for all, friend -- especially when Georgia polls show him leading by a narrow margin around a month out.
But this race will come down to who votes, and Republicans have historically voted in larger numbers in congressional runoffs. We need to turn out a record number of Democratic voters to win this race and ensure that Raphael Warnock makes it to the Senate, but we’ll need to up our funds if we’re going to expand our efforts.
