I was back in Washington this week – to override Trump’s veto of a pay raise for our troops. The House also passed direct cash payments of $2,000, bumping up the $600 checks provided by the latest stimulus package – as requested by Trump. The bill is now being held up by Mitch McConnell in the Senate.

It’s a shameful end to a shameful Presidency. Trump vetoed funding for our military because he didn’t want to change military bases named after Confederate generals. And then after putting the COVID-19 relief bill at risk because he disagreed with his own government’s push for $600 checks rather than $2,000, he folded and signed the bill anyway.

I’ve been pushing to give Americans $2,000 a month since April. And the House is ready to pass increased stimulus – if Republicans will stop their obstruction.
