As the holidays wind down, New Yorkers are at a crossroads. Too many of us are unsure of how we’ll make rent, whether it’s safe to do the things we love, or even where our next meal is coming from. And yet our political leadership is insulated from the crisis and playing the old game in the old ways. Will we choose the familiar path of party insiders, people from the current administration or Wall Street bankers? All of whom offer a variation of the same plan: managing the decline and protecting the interests of the powerful few. Or will we choose a new way?
