John
As we approach the High Holidays, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the refugee experience and how we can lend a helping hand to those who need one.
It’s often difficult for refugees to survive when they’re confined to camps and have no access to employment opportunities. But in Chad, HIAS runs a program that works to empower refugee women with ways to earn a living within the safety and security of the camp.
Through this program, women learn the techniques of bread-making and can support their families with the money they make selling the bread. The skills they learn increase their self-sufficiency and help them move forward with their lives. We have been so excited to see this initiative grow from just a small group of women to 214 women spanning six different camps.

But this life-changing work for refugees around the world is only possible because of the generosity of supporters like you. That’s why we hope you’ll make a gift to HIAS today to help ensure we can continue providing critical assistance to refugees and asylum seekers around the world:
Thank you so much for making our work on behalf of refugees and asylum seekers possible.
