While the citizens of the rich world are protected from harm, the poor, the vulnerable and the hungry are exposed to the harsh reality of climate change in their everyday lives…. We are drifting into a world of ‘adaptation apartheid’. Desmond Tutu

Hi John!

On Friday, Sept. 20, Silicon Valley DSA members marched for the Youth Climate Strike. Led by South Bay’s youth, a couple thousand people took to the streets in Downtown San Jose to call for our local leaders to support the Green New Deal, and to do more than simply declare climate emergencies. DSA was represented in multiple ways throughout the event! DSA member Shahid Buttar spoke during the end-of-march rally, as well as one of Silicon Valley DSA’s youngest members! We are so proud of them for calling out capitalism as the cause of climate change on such a large stage! One of our members was also interviewed for SJ Spotlight, and helped lead some powerful chants throughout the march!

“What do we want? Climate Justice! When do we want it? Now!”
.

In Solidarity,
