John,
Though this year has been very different from previous years, I hope you are able to find connection, meaning, and peace this holiday season. As we at HIAS prepare for the coming year, we’re keeping in mind all of the people around the world spending their winters seeking safety and refuge in the middle of a pandemic.
This year, refugees and asylum seekers faced hardships like never before. As countries locked down their borders due to the pandemic, thousands of displaced people spent months in unsanitary shelters with nowhere to turn. Many couldn’t find food, access clean water, or keep their families safe from the coronavirus.
Here at HIAS, our teams stepped up to help. When a single mother of three in Ecuador couldn’t afford food or rent after she lost her job, our teams reached out to provide financial assistance. And when a Honduran man was separated from his pregnant wife and child at our southern border, our lawyers reunited him with his family — just in time for the birth of his second child.
To make sure we can continue our lifesaving work for refugees throughout these challenging times and beyond, we set a year-end goal to raise $150,000 by midnight on December 31. But we won’t be able to get there without your generous support, John — so we’re coming to you today:
As the pandemic continues to grow worse, we depend on every dollar we raise to help us continue supporting displaced children and families around the world. With so many counting on HIAS to help them meet their basic needs during this turbulent time, your support couldn’t be more important than it is right now.
Please, don’t wait another minute to make an impact for those in need: Make a year-end donation now to support the work that HIAS carries out every day for those fleeing violence and persecution around the world.
Thank you. Your support today goes a long way for all those seeking safety during this unprecedented time.
