Neighbors,

As this year comes to a close, it's tempting to want to jump ahead to seemingly better times and leave behind a year full of disappointments, much change and sometimes hopelessness. Yet in these last moments of 2020, Christmas is our chance to be with and give thanks for our families, to enjoy the little things and to love our neighbors. A new year will come and we will no doubt be charged with unforeseen trials and challenges, but if we're lucky, we'll take the time to slow down, look around and give thanks not "for everything" but "in everything."

May the joy of God's blessings and the peace in Jesus' presence be with you. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and yours.

Safe Travels,

In and Around the District
Rep. Bailes visited the Rural Workforce Academy welding class in Cleveland, a joint venture by Prairie View A&M and the Texas Workforce Commission.
Rep. Bailes and his wife, Courtney pose with the 2020 House District 18 ornament on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives. This is the 10th year of the district ornament project, wherein Texas House members are invited to select a constituent to create a visual representation of what makes their district special. Justice of the Peace Larry Wilburn of Liberty County graciously gave his time and tremendous talents to create the 2020 district ornament, and he did a very impressive job to say the least!
Rep. Bailes presents Dr. Dale Underwood with the traditional gavel for his exemplary service. The Huntsville Walker County Chamber honored Dr. Underwood as outgoing Chairman at their 86th Annual Awards Gala.
Rep. Bailes was the guest for the final Party Line Program on KSHN. The online radio station closed on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020. Pictured interviewing Bailes are KSHN Owner Bill Buchanan and Station Manager Tiffany York. York and Buchanan were later joined by former KSHN employee Ross Norwood and receptionist Debbie Polasek as they reminisced about their most memorable moments and thanked listeners for their 44 years of support - first with KPXE AM and then KSHN FM.
