Happy holidays -- the holidays are a time of reflection, a time of hope, and a time of giving.

As I reflect on my time as New Mexico's senator, I want to personally tell you how grateful I am for your support over the years. You gave your time, energy, and generous contributions, and they made a difference. Serving New Mexicans in the U.S. Senate and working with grassroots supporters like you to make our country a better place has been the highest honor of my life.

I'm proud of what we've accomplished together. I will always remember the strides and progress we made toward combating climate change, growing a clean-energy economy, more affordable access to health care, supporting our Native communities, fighting for campaign finance reform, and protecting our democracy and civil liberties. None of it would have been possible without your passion and dedication.

While my time in the Senate is coming to an end, my time fighting for New Mexico, my home state and the state I love, as well as our country is far from over. I intend to keep working on behalf of our great state and country.

As we approach the New Year, there are so many reasons to be hopeful for the future.

Together, we worked hard and helped send President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to the White House to start rebuilding and healing our nation. Democrats won significant victories in the West, both in Senate races and in the electoral college. And with the first Americans receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, there is an end in sight to the devastating pandemic that has dominated our lives for the past year.

But in the meantime, millions of Americans are struggling to get by. We need to keep taking care of one another. This year in particular, there are so many in need.

Instead of asking for one more political donation, I'm going to suggest several charitable organizations that I support during this holiday season:

1. For hungry families in New Mexico and across the country, please consider Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico, Feeding America, and the Santa Fe Community Foundation's Mobile Grocery program (MoGro).

Roadrunner is the largest non-profit focused on combating food insecurity in New Mexico, Feeding America is the largest national network of food banks, and MoGro delivers weekly shares of healthy foods across northern NM including rural and tribal communities. All are doing important work this holiday season.

2. To support Native American communities, consider the Native American Rights Fund (NARF) and the Santa Fe Community Foundation's Native American Relief Fund.

NARF provides legal assistance to Tribal Nations and individuals to advance tribal sovereignty, treaty rights, natural resource protection, and Indian education, among other important areas. The Native American Relief Fund supports emergency grants to the 23 Tribes in New Mexico to fund food, water, and other emergency supplies for families impacted by COVID-19. Both are great ways to support Native communities.

Thank you again for your support. From my family to yours: have a safe and happy holiday season.

Cheers,

Tom
