Team — A legislative package that will support female veterans, indigenous veterans, homeless veterans, student veterans, and veterans affected by the coronavirus is heading to the president’s desk with bipartisan approval.

This is big. Let’s take a look at this monumental bill:
  • This bill includes provisions that would help renovate shelters and get veterans into housing.
  • It provides eligibility to VA benefits for service members who have contracted coronavirus on duty.
  • It’s allocated $20 million to retrofit VA hospitals with women’s health spaces and makes permanent a program to provide childcare at VA facilities.
  • It works to ensure veterans’ education benefits aren’t negatively affected by fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.
  • And, more.
Bills like these are why us here at Go for Broke for Vets stress the importance of having legislators, like our leader House V.A. Chair Mark Takano, who prioritize the needs of our veterans in office. Because they can make the difference for our veterans in need.

While this was a huge step for veterans during a year when they’re especially vulnerable, there is more work to be done. And we are excited to be a part of it.

P.S. The best way to ensure that bills like these keep getting pushed forward is to elect more progressive veteran advocates in office. Please do so by chipping in just $5 to Go for Broke for Vets: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/gb4v-fec-deadline-2012
