Dear John,
Schools across the country are back in full swing, and that means pre-K teachers are back in the classroom. Teachers who feel supported and valued are essential to ensuring the highest quality learning experiences for our children, especially for our most vulnerable early learners.
Children born into poverty begin life with the odds stacked against them. Early childhood teachers help level the playing field by providing high-quality pre-K education to children from under-resourced communities. Their job isn’t easy, but it’s so important.

Help us encourage and support educators by signing our “thank you” card—we'll deliver it to pre-K teachers around the country! We’ve set a goal to gather 5,000 signatures by Oct. 6, to show early childhood educators how much they mean to all of us.

The Ounce built our first early childhood school, Educare Chicago, in 2000 and now we partner with other early childhood champions to develop schools in communities across the country. The Educare Learning Network ensures that young children from under-served communities have the best possible opportunity for success in life.
Educare’s comprehensive program incorporates what science says children birth to age 5 need to flourish. And it works. Studies have shown that when children leave Educare for elementary school, the majority are academically, socially and emotionally prepared for kindergarten.
This program would be nothing without the educators who devote their lives to teaching our country’s youngest learners—and they don’t hear “thanks” nearly enough.
Help us change that!
