In a surprising twist of fate, Republicans are frustrated with Donald Trump.
Why? He’s been soliciting funds for his PAC under the pretense of raising money for the Georgia special elections, when in reality the donations are only lining his own pockets.
“Trump’s fundraising ploy has rankled senior Republicans, who worry small-dollar donations are being redirected away from the runoffs,” according to POLITICO. “The predicament has intensified broader concerns within the GOP that Trump will use his post-presidency to advance his own interests at the expense of the party.”
While it may be tempting to cheer at the situation, we can’t celebrate just yet -- even with Trump’s fraud, millions will still be spent propping up Perdue and Loeffler. Jacquelyn Bettadapur, a Democratic official in Georgia, is warning of lower democratic turnout in the runoffs. She told CBS News, “This election is not a continuation of what happened in November. It’s a complete reset.”
Republicans know that the only way Democrats can make any lasting policy changes and move our country forward is by taking back control of the Senate, so the GOP is funnelling a massive amount of resources into a last-ditch effort to keep some far-right authority in Washington. In fact, the Republican money machine has already DOUBLED the funding of Democratic candidates.
