"The United States will rejoin the Paris Agreement on day one of my presidency," Joe Biden announced at the fifth anniversary gathering of the climate accord, held virtually on December 12. "I'll immediately start working with my counterparts around the world to do all that we possibly can, including by convening the leaders of major economies for a climate summit within my first 100 days in office."

POLITICO maintains that "even a divided Congress won't stand in the way" of Joe Biden's transformative climate change agenda, because independent financial agencies within the federal government hold the power to rein in fossil fuel financing and combat global warming.

That means our government will finally move to stop climate change. Biden's ambitious plan includes undoing all of Trump's environmental rollbacks, creating 10 million clean energy jobs, protecting biodiversity, investing in renewable energy, and permanently protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Some say that climate change isn't as important as other issues affecting our country. But if Biden is going to sidestep Congress and use his authority to battle climate change, then he needs to show he has the full support of the American people behind him.
