John,
One year ago, today, The Lincoln Project published an op-ed
<[link removed]> in The New
York Times—and a movement was born.
We launched on December 17, 2019, with one mission: to defeat Donald Trump,
his enablers, and the hosts of his destructive, un-American ideology at the
ballot box.
But we could not imagine the speed and scale with which our team, our
following, and our impact would grow.
As the pandemic took hold and Donald Trump maliciously chose not to respond,
our movement grew to includethousands of volunteers and millions of grassroots
supporters who would not let this breakdown of American leadership stand.
This fight is over America’s values and the values that make up free and fair
societies.
It took all of us—including you, John—to elect Joe Biden and repudiate Donald
Trump’s racism, corruption, and attacks on our democracy.
And it will take our collective care and vigilance to steward this experiment
in self-governance, freedom, and equality to the next generation.
In a matter of weeks, Donald Trump will be gone.
A new chapter in America’s story will have commenced.
But we must reckon with a disturbing truth: a major political party has tarred
our Constitution and shown they are willing to hold hostage the will of the
American people in exchange for the favor of an un-American strongman.
We are here to fight against these authoritarians and enemies of democracy.
We refuse to be bystanders through the deliberate defrauding and undoing of
our great nation.
Together, we have made history this year.
And in the years to come, we will continue to make history, allied with all
those who believe in the greatness of the American experiment.
We’re honored to have you standing with us.
— The Lincoln Project
PS: Our next stand for democracy, unity, and leadership is a two-front battle
in Georgia. We need your help to defeat Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue—Trump
coup co-conspirators and leading enablers of his destruction and corruption.
Can you help us?
Thank you, John!
