Hello,
There’s good news: Georgians have already started voting in the upcoming Senate runoffs, which’ll determine which party will control the Senate for the next two years.
More than one million voters have requested mail-in ballots, according to the Associated Press, and upwards of 200,000 ballots have already been cast.
But we can’t take another Democratic win for granted. Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff are running in tight races, and their Republican opponents have the GOP money-machine backing them up.
And Democrats are rightfully worried about recurring instances of voter suppression -- according to The New York Times, “election officials in Cobb County, the third-largest county in Georgia, plan to open fewer than half of the early voting locations that were in place for the general election, reducing the number to five from 11.” It should come as no surprise that “some of the locations being closed...are in neighborhoods with large Black populations.”
When Democrats Turn Out is determined to turn out voters in Georgia and fight the Right’s undemocratic attempts at voter suppression -- but we’re running low on funds. If we don’t raise another $2,248 by midnight tonight, there’s no guarantee we’ll be able to take on the financial powerhouse of dark money that is the GOP.
