Hi there,
Elizabeth Warren is urging President-elect Joe Biden to take immediate, substantial action on student debt when he takes office on January 20.
"If we don't take action, the pandemic, and the recession will make it even harder for borrowers who were already barely treading water," Warren said at a virtual summit held by the Student Borrower Protection Center. "The way I see it, we have a responsibility and a moral obligation to act."
Student debt forgiveness could be life changing for the approximately 46 million Americans in debt from student loans. Elizabeth Warren knows this, which is why she and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer are pushing for "Biden to forgive $50,000 of student loan debt per borrower through executive action," according to The Hill.
With so many issues competing for the new administration's attention, it's imperative that we make our voices heard so that our leaders understand our priorities. Please, share your thoughts with us now:
