"What should have been a beautiful weekend was ruined by white supremacists who came to our city seeking violence."

This is what D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson had to say about the Proud Boys' protests earlier this month.

According to The Washington Post, "Police said the Proud Boys movement of white chauvinists amassed their largest gathering yet in the District." They "also said four churches were vandalized" and "released photos of White men marching with and burning a Black Lives Matter banner ripped down from one of the churches."

The Proud Boys were marching -- and inciting violence -- to show their support for Trump (once again) and his claims that the election was unfairly rigged.

If anyone was still wondering if Trump's and his Republican allies' refusal to accept the results of the fair and secure election we just had has any impact, this incident should serve as a brutal wake-up call.

WDTO is working around the clock to support Democrats who're combatting Republican misinformation and are committed to weeding out white supremacy from Washington. But with Biden's win officially certified by the Electoral College and another election reversal plot already being planned by Trump's cronies for January 6, there's no way this is the last we're going to see of the Proud Boys.

We need to significantly increase our efforts in order to protect our democracy from the forces that threaten it -- but unfortunately, we're running low on the funds we need to do so. As it stands, we're $2,491 short of where we need to be to keep going.

Friend, you know that the Proud Boys will have a national platform not just for as long as Trump is in charge but as long as Trumpism lives on after him -- which is why it's IMPERATIVE that we come together to repudiate them and everything they stand for now.
