Join us for many events in January 2021
Dear John,
Happy Hanukkah! It is hard to believe that soon 2020 will be over. For better or
worse, this tumultuous year has flown by.
I hope the new year will bring with it many reasons to celebrate and a renewed
opportunity to do so in community. With the historic election of President-elect
Joe Biden and Vice-President elect Kamala Harris, all of us at HIAS look forward
to seeing the U.S. reaffirm its long-standing commitment to protecting refugees,
and I look forward to continuing to bring the Greater Washington DC region ways
to get involved in furthering our mission to protect and advocate for the
protection of refugees and asylum seekers.
In the spirit of the winter holidays, I want to ask you — if you are able — to
be a bright spot in a dark time. Please consider donating an Amazon gift card to
support the purchase of holiday gifts for our asylum-seeking clients’ children,
or joining us on January 13 to learn more about how you can volunteer remotely
with HIAS in 2021. More information regarding these opportunities is below.
Thank you for all you do to support refugees and asylum seekers.
Warm wishes,
Chelsey Berlin,
Community Engagement Director for Greater Washington, DC
