John,

When it comes to the global climate crisis, "corporate financial disclosures"
don't generate the headlines that clean energy or carbon caps might. But
measuring and managing the risks and opportunities that companies face from
climate change can have a huge impact -- directing the decisions of business
leaders, governments, and investors.

That's why Mike is urging Joe Biden to harness the power of financial
disclosures in the fight against climate change -- starting on his first day in
office.Read Mike's article to see why business climate risk reporting is
critical to driving climate action:

Mike encourages President Biden to convene world leaders and work together on
a mandatory standard that global businesses can use to measure and report the
risks and opportunities that climate change poses for their operations.

Climate risk disclosure is critical in creating a more resilient economy.
Global climate reporting standards would illuminate and quantify currently
unknown risks to infrastructure, investors, workers, and supply chains. That
would not only help to protect the planet -- it would also prevent potentially
catastrophic economic instability, and help investors understand what is needed
to build the clean, sustainable economy of the future.

Securing reliable, globally consistent climate risk reporting will help
fulfill the promise of a leader who was elected with the most ambitious climate
plan of any presidential candidate in history. The faster we make it standard
practice globally, the safer and stronger the economy will be, and the U.S. can
help lead the way.
