Mississippi AG Investigates His Rival In Governor’s Race |
What Happened: |
Mississippi’s Attorney General, Democrat Jim Hood - who is running for governor - is using an investigation he supervised to attack his Republican opponent. |
Why You Should Care: |
If that sounds fishy, that’s because it is. Several outsiders are accusing Hood of politicizing the state’s judicial system - not to mention the office of Attorney General - to go after a political rival. Not good. |
What Happens Next: |
Hood’s report, which has been called "heavy on inference and light on conclusions," suggests that Republican Tate Reeves violated the state constitution over a road project. Others have said there is no evidence of wrongdoing. Hood should explain how this "investigation" isn’t a massive conflict of interest on his part. |

Maryland Opioid-Related Deaths Dropped In First Half of 2019 |
What Happened: |
Two years after GOP Gov. Larry Hogan declared a state of emergency in Maryland over the opioid crisis, a new report shows his efforts are working. |
Why You Should Care: |
No state has been immune to the opioid crisis. But in Maryland, opioid-related deaths dropped 11.1% in the first half of 2019. Fentanyl-related deaths were down 7.8%. Progress! |
What Happens Next: |
"Though the continued decline in fatal overdoses is welcome news, the heroin and opioid epidemic remains a crisis and we will continue to respond with all the tools at our disposal," said Hogan. Enough said. |

Ted Cruz: "Donald Trump Has Broken The Democratic Party" |
What Happened: |
The senator from Texas had some harsh truths for the Democratic Party |
Why You Should Care: |
As Sen. Cruz explained, Democrats want to raise taxes, triple the cost of a gallon of gas, open our borders, and take away health insurance. That should be cause for concern for EVERY American. |
What Happens Next: |
Democrats - especially those running for president in 2020 - will continue to try and convince Americans that what they really want is higher taxes, less choices in their health care, and yes, open borders. To that we say, Good luck! |
