Polygamy is rare in most parts of the world. Every U.S. state has laws against getting married while already being married to someone else, while in swaths of the Middle East and Asia, polygamy is legal but not practiced widely. But in some parts of West and Central Africa, polygamy is frequently legal and widespread. A new Fact Tank post takes a closer look at this living arrangement and its connections to religion.
