Dear John,
This year, Giving Tuesday has arrived at an incredibly urgent moment: With the COVID-19 pandemic worsening and the global refugee crisis growing, refugees and asylum seekers around the world have never needed our support more than now.
So, to help us meet the growing needs of displaced persons worldwide, the Hammer Family has generously offered to match all gifts up to $21,000 in memory of Jeanette and Dr. Alexander Hammer.
This is incredible news: It means all gifts up to $21,000 will go twice as far toward supporting refugees and asylum seekers — but only if we take advantage of it. John, our work is not possible without your support. That’s why we’re counting on you today:

In one of the most challenging years in recent memory, HIAS has expanded our work with refugees in 16 countries:
- We’ve offered legal support to asylum seekers stuck in dangerous and unsanitary conditions across our southern border.
- We’ve provided emergency food, shelter, and cash-based assistance to refugees and asylum seekers who are unemployed and/or without housing or food because of the pandemic.
- We’ve supported refugees and asylum seekers remotely, disseminating critical information about the virus and access to medical care, and providing one-on-one counseling for refugees facing domestic violence and mental health struggles.
Our work fighting for refugees and asylum seekers — building toward a world in which all people are able to find home — has never been more important.
But this crucial work isn’t possible without your generous support. Every dollar is MATCHED until midnight in support of displaced children and families, so I’m asking you to rush a gift today for refugees facing their greatest moments of need:
Thank you,
