Dear John,

Medicare’s Open Enrollment period has begun, and you have until December 7 to review your coverage or make changes! You can go HERE to sign up or shop for new Medicare Advantage or prescription drug (Part D) plans or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE. Please know there are resources offered at no cost via Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance (SHIBA), which you can reach by calling 1-800-722-4134 -- to answer your questions about enrolling.

Especially during a once-in-a-century global pandemic, our communities are at their strongest when our families, friends, and neighbors have access to the health care they deserve. That means that every senior -- regardless of the color of their skin, their zip code, or their income -- deserves high-quality, affordable care.

And for the past 55 years, Medicare has helped us move closer toward that vision. In fact, since Medicare was established in 1965, it has become America’s most-popular, most-successful program. That’s why I’m committed to not only protecting Medicare, but to making it stronger, by standing up against any and all efforts to weaken the program, and fighting for legislation that would allow the agency that oversees Medicare to negotiate for better prescription drug prices under Part D.

Health care is a basic human right, and it shouldn’t be reserved just for the powerful and privileged. So I hope you’ll join me in getting our communities signed up for care, by spreading the word about this year’s Medicare Open Enrollment period.

All my best,
Jeff
