American ingenuity today and throughout history really is impressive. Sunday night, four astronauts left Floridian soil to meet up with the ISS.

Friend,

American ingenuity today and throughout history really is impressive.

Sunday night, four astronauts left Floridian soil to meet up with the International Space Station Monday night. This is an exciting development as the United States returns to human spaceflight with a partnership between NASA and SpaceX.

And that connection between SpaceX Crew Dragon and the ISS followed incredible breakthroughs in a vaccine development announced Monday morning – which followed a similar announcement just a week earlier. Now we have two coronavirus vaccines that have a proven 90% and higher efficacy in late-stage trials and are ready for federal review.

This rapid development and testing could only be done because of the incredible scientists here in the U.S. – and the federal government working with the private sector instead of acting as a roadblock to innovation.

Our country has developed two safe, effective vaccines in less than a year, with potentially more on the horizon. This development is something all Americans should be celebrating, just like we did when American boots touched the moon's surface 51 years ago.

However, some on the left continue to push a false narrative of distrust and obstruction – politicizing the Trump administration's work to safely accelerate the process by pre-funding some manufacturing and simultaneous testing processes.

Today, despite the challenges of 2020, we have reasons to celebrate American ingenuity and innovation – whether that's safely rocketing astronauts into space or developing a safe vaccine for those of us here on earth. Our scientific community and our industry partners are incredible, and we should recognize and appreciate these accomplishments.

Sincerely,

Rep. Ron Estes

P.S. In case you missed it, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo referred to the timing of the vaccine as "bad news," saying, "The bad news is that it’s about two months before Joe Biden takes over and that means this administration is going to be implementing a vaccine plan." Gov. Cuomo continues to politicize the vaccine instead of celebrating this great American achievement. Help us spread a positive and truthful message by contributing here ([link removed]) .
