TONIGHT: Congestion Pricing with SFCTA

Transit Matters: From COVID Recovery to World-Class Transit for All

TONIGHT 5:30PM: Congestion Pricing

The SFCTA is looking for your input on their plans for congestion pricing, a tool to reduce traffic and car use where we have the most congestion, while raising funds to pay for Muni service that would hopefully allow folks to leave their cars at home.

How can congestion pricing be done equitably? What service changes are needed? What's the plan?

Come ask your questions, and let them know your thoughts and concerns.

Support Transit Riders

Public transit is in a very precarious place. We can’t take it for granted. Muni has suspended many routes and instituted a hiring freeze. Golden Gate Transit just approved dramatic layoffs. AC Transit, BART, Caltrain, are all facing severe funding shortages and have to make difficult decisions that will leave riders stranded.

San Francisco Transit Riders is leading the fight to save transit. By grounding our work in outreach to everyday riders, working with our partners and allies in San Francisco and the Bay Area, and being part of the nationwide push for robust transit recovery, we’re in a key position to make sure we rebuild transit better than before.

"I lived about 5 miles away from my job, and it would take an hour to an hour and a half just to get there. I hope we can start seeing how important transit is - it's not just something that a few people need to use but it should be something people want to use. It should be desirable." - Elaine

We need to raise $10,000 by this Giving Tuesday, December 1, so we can make sure riders like Elaine are put at the center of recovery plans - that transit gets enough funding to serve the most people, most equitably.

Please give today, to make a concrete difference for all riders - because transit matters!

Transit Matters: From COVID Recovery to World-Class Transit for All
Thursday, December 3, 5:30PM

Join us for an in-depth discussion with some of San Francisco and the Bay Area's leaders in public transit.

While public transit is essential to access, equity, mobility, and sustainability, the pandemic is presenting serious challenges. With the loss of revenue, difficult decisions are being made about service cuts and service changes. Car traffic has returned almost to pre-pandemic levels while public transit struggles for resources and space on the road.

We know transit matters. Transit advocates and leaders need to build a strong foundation now to ensure that transit not only survives, but that it thrives in the future.

The discussion will be moderated by Alexandra Sweet, Mayor Breed's Transportation Advisor.
