Firstname, we know you have an actual name — it's John. And despite our momentary lapse — our bad! — it's more important than ever that you add your name calling on Congress to support the investigation into Brett Kavanaugh.
We want impeachment. To get there, we must first have an investigation. This is path that we must follow to ensure that Brett Kavanaugh is held accountable for his gross misconduct and lies — and how you can take action to ensure justice is served.
John—
Over the weekend, additional damning evidence came to light regarding Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s history of sexual abuse and assault, adding weight to what we already know: Kavanaugh repeatedly lied under oath.1
The New York Times published the details of two separate accounts of sexual assault, the details of which were not appropriately investigated by the FBI during his confirmation hearings.2
In fact, Trump’s White House and Senate Republicans expressly instructed the FBI not to conduct a proper investigation — even when witnesses directly contacted them in hopes of securing justice.3
And then, Mitch McConnell went out of his way to hide huge pieces of Kavanugh’s past — from his true beliefs on Roe v. Wade during his time in the Bush administration to the multiple, credible allegations of sexual assault against him — by refusing to release millions of pages of documents that deserve public scrutiny.4
We believe that a thorough investigation of these documents would prove Brett Kavanaugh committed perjury — which is an impeachable offense.
That’s why we are calling on Congress to support the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jerry Nadler, in reviewing documents that would confirm Brett Kavanaugh lied under oath during his confirmation hearings.
Add your name to call on Congress to support the investigation into Kavanaugh.
Here is the path that we must follow to ensure that Brett Kavanaugh is held accountable for his gross misconduct and lies:
- We must ensure that Trump does not block the release of all documents related to Brett Kavanaugh’s time in the White House that are in the possession of the National Archives. Rep. Nadler has begun this review process, but members of Congress must keep up the drumbeat by fighting for a full release in the press and refusing to let this miscarriage of justice — or the negligent FBI investigation — be swept under the rug.
↓
- Prove Kavanaugh committed perjury: A thorough investigation by the Judiciary Committee of these documents, compared to Brett Kavanaugh’s testimony during his confirmation hearings will reveal Kavanaugh lied under oath to the American people.
↓
- Begin impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives that culminate in a conviction in the Senate.
Kavanaugh’s confirmation was rushed through by Senate Republicans, who (rightly) feared what would come to light if the FBI conducted a thorough examination of the allegations against him.
These latest revelations only reaffirm what we knew then: Brett Kavanaugh should have never been confirmed to the Supreme Court. His lies have been aided and abetted by Donald Trump, Trump’s corrupt Department of Justice, Senate Republicans, and Mitch McConnell.
It is in our hands to restore the integrity of our democracy. We know it won’t be a short or an easy process. But it is one of the most important battles we’ve ever faced as a nation — and we must undertake it together.
Add your name to call on Congress to support the Kavanaugh investigation and help us begin the process to impeach.
Forward,
