As you know, the 2020 election at the state level is the most important of our lifetimes.

As the Director of Data & Analytics at the DLCC, I'm tasked with providing our team with down-to-the-minute updates and latest trends happening around the country. I highlighted three critical states for you several weeks ago, but several more recent developments caught my eye.

If Republicans win, we will take a dramatic step back on many issues. States will turn a blind eye as right-wing special interests decimate our planet to boost their bottom lines. Clinics that offer reproductive services will shut their doors for good. People who need Medicaid and health care coverage will be left out in the cold with no insurance. Every community, including our local schools, will remain vulnerable to gun violence.

But if you keep supporting Democrats today, we can build on our 2018 success, win in 2020 and launch a new era of implementing bold, progressive solutions to address our nation's biggest challenges.

And remember, the winner of legislatures in the 2020 election will be tasked with drawing new lines for state and congressional districts. That's why this election is the most important ever – it will determine who holds power for the next decade.

This is big: There are several critical states where we need your immediate support. All of our targets are trending the wrong direction because of heavy spending by Republicans.

Will you donate whatever you can today to help us drive up turnout in Democratic areas and persuade voters in battleground states across the country?

We need help right away in Virginia, where every single legislative seat is up in just a few short weeks – on November 5!

We must immediately expand our voter outreach in the Richmond suburbs, Blacksburg, Newport News, and Tidewater. Charlottesville is also a top target. We're organizing to win big in the city that was the site of the white supremacist rally that left one person dead, several injured, and Donald Trump saying there were "very fine people on both sides."

We also need to grow their grassroots operations in the battleground states of Michigan and Pennsylvania. We lost those states in 2016 because we weren't able to get enough of our voters to the polls. We can't let that happen again. Our organizers know exactly who to turn out, Democrats just need the resources to execute.

Additionally, we can't let Minnesota turn red in 2020. Donald Trump lost that state by 1.5% and Republicans are going all-in to win it. But we can flip the Minnesota State Senate by winning just two GOP seats. That would give Democrats a trifecta – control of the State House, State Senate, and the governor's office.

Finally, we're expanding the battleground map by getting heavily involved in Arizona. In 2020, both the State House and State Senate are within reach. We are raising the money to build a sophisticated outreach program that will result in registering thousands of new voters, increasing turnout in Phoenix, Tucson and other cities, and improving Democratic numbers in rural communities.

Donald Trump and national Republicans continue to increase the amount of money they spend on campaigns at the state level. Their financial commitment is unprecedented and has put us behind in several of these elections. But we can overcome their financial advantage if all of our grassroots supporters come together today.
