Welcome to another edition of FT Now! Ready for some updates from the
political world? You would think taking back the White House would have
Democrats united like never before. And...you would be wrong. Get your
popcorn ready, because the real show is just about to start.
Progressives are making no bones about reminding us Joe Biden was NOT
their first pick and he better start getting used to the idea of playing
along with their agenda. Even Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is signaling
she's keeping an eye on Biden. And oh yeah - defunding the police
means "defunding the police." President Obama is coming out with a new
memoir, and it's sparked quite the reaction for South Dakota Gov.
Kristi Noem. Read below for more!

AOC Defends "Defund the Police" Mantra

What Happened:

Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reiterated during a
virtual town hall that defunding the police means...exactly that -
despite what some of her fellow Democrats say. "Our [police budget] is
too high," she said. "It's about a budget shift."

Why You Should Care:

Remember when so many on the left assured us that "defunding the police"
doesn't actually mean "defunding the police"? Thankfully, we have AOC
to set the record straight. But also: could the Democratic Party get any
more extreme?

What Happens Next:

Progressives like AOC aren't being shy about how they plan to hold the
next presidential administration accountable when it comes to
implementing their extreme agenda. Expect more doubling down in the
future...

Gov. Noem Fires Back at President Obama's Statements

What Happened:

President Obama is releasing a new memoir, and in it, talks about not
giving up on the "possibility of America." South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem
has a few things to say about that. "What a ridiculous message," said
Noem. "Obama had 8 years, including 2 with full control of Congress. He
sent our jobs to China, left our healthcare system in disarray, our
foreign policy in shambles & our people divided."

Why You Should Care:

Governor Noem isn't afraid to push back on anyone when it comes to
defending America and conservsative values. Consider her one to watch.

What Happens Next:

Get ready for the media to fawn all over Obama's new book.

Biden Calls for Unity, But Some Fellow Democrats Contradict His Message

What Happened:

Some members of Joe Biden's own party aren't too thrilled with his
unity message post-election. Because why work with Republicans when you
can continue to demonize them?

Why You Should Care:

Other than the fact that we are getting a front-row seat to Democratic
Party infighting, the push from the progressive wing of the party to
shun unity should make anyone concerned about what a Biden presidency
would look like. Will he actually stand up to the squad? Or to radical
progressives like Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders?

What Happens Next:

Only time will tell...
