This year, the Republican Governors Association was committed to protecting Republican incumbent governors up for re-election and growing our majority. While
pollsters and opinionators predicted a crushing “blue wave” this November, they were proven wrong, once again, because voters showed up to elect strong, conservative leaders at the state level. In fact, the RGA emerged as a clear winner in 2020 and had resounding success.
In 2020, we were successful in re-electing all six incumbent Republicans who were on the ballot, retained the open gubernatorial seat in Utah, and flipped the governor’s seat in Montana from blue to red for the first time in nearly two decades.
From deep-blue New England to America’s heartland, and out west to the Rockies, Republican gubernatorial candidates earned decisive victories over their opponents.
