The biggest news from the presidential race today

Battleground states

• There are still 22 House races waiting for a final call. Here's where they stand today -- and what they mean for the next Congress.

• North Carolina will continue to accept absentee ballots until this Thursday, November 12 (provided they have a November 3 postmark).

• Here's background information from the Daily Caller on how mail-in ballots are processed.

President Trump

• The Daily Signal has an overview of the pending legal challenges in battleground states.

• President Trump may start a leadership PAC that could distribute donations to other candidates and/or run for president again in 2024.

Joe Biden

• Cindy McCain is reportedly joining Joe Biden's transition team. She previously endorsed him in the presidential race.

• Biden's campaign manager pledged that he would "make good" on his "progressive and aggressive agenda."

Democrats' House campaign chair will step down after "blue wave" crashes.

"Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairwoman Cheri Bustos (D., Ill.) announced Monday she plans to step down from her role and will not seek reelection. Bustos's decision follows a turbulent post-election phone call last week in which House Democrats clashed over their failure to expand their majority and secure the Senate, as pre-election polling had predicted. During the phone call, Bustos said she was 'furious' that a blue wave projected for Tuesday's election 'never materialized.'" (Washington Free Beacon)

• Rep. Cheri Bustos will step down from her role as chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). The DCCC is the campaign committee for House Democrats; it generally helps incumbents get re-elected and recruits candidates in open races.

• The reason: the "blue wave" crashed ... and Republicans did very well in House elections on November 3rd. Although Democrats are expected to retain the majority in the U.S. House, it will be by a narrow margin.

• Also factoring in: Rep. Bustos barely won her own re-election campaign. Fox News described it as a "scrappy fight."

• Two Democrats have already announced they'd like to run for DCCC chair.

More good news in the COVID fight: FDA grants emergency-use authorization for new treatment.

"'Bamlanivimab, when given early in the disease course, may help patients clear the virus and reduce covid-related hospitalizations, supporting our belief that neutralizing antibodies can be an important therapeutic option for patients fighting this virus,' Eli Lilly’s chief scientific officer said in a statement." (National Review)

• The FDA gave emergency-use authorization to a new treatment called bamlanivimab. As National Review reports, it is "intended to help prevent patients with mild infections from developing more-severe symptoms or advanced cases of the disease."

• Yesterday Pfizer announced a 90% effective vaccine for COVID. Worth noting for conservatives: one pro-life group has confirmed that it is not made with fetal cells.

• Both of these are encouraging signs in the fight against COVID.
