Dear John,

This is a historic and unprecedented moment. Over the weekend, we learned that Joe Biden will serve as the 46th President of the United States. Alongside him will be Kamala Harris, the first woman, first Black person, and first Asian to be elected as Vice President. Wow.

At IWPR, we are looking forward to working with the new leadership, advocates, practitioners, and others to put forth bold policies that will move the country forward. Over the past several months, we have been on the frontlines articulating the impact of the pandemic on working women, their families and communities.

Today, we write with news of our newest report release—Build(ing) The Future: Bold Policies for a Gender-Equitable Recovery. The report provides a blueprint for a gender-equitable recovery that is not only about meeting the immediate economic needs of women and families, but lays out a long-term strategy for creating stronger systems and institutions that reflect the experiences and contributions of women in the workforce, in society, and to their families.

As a single mother by choice to of 11-year old twins who began middle school this year, I can tell you first-hand that it’s not easy juggling a career, virtual learning, and the

socio-emotional needs of kids who miss hanging out with their friends and their teachers. Many mothers are struggling with these issues and many more.

The full report will be released on Tuesday, November 10, on our website at iwpr.org.

At 1:00 p.m. EST that same day, we will be hosting a virtual release event with Fatima Goss Graves, President/CEO, National Women’s Law Center; Rep. Brenda L. Lawrence; Shilpa Phadke, Vice President, Women’s Initiatives, Center for American Progress; Liz Shuler, Secretary-Treasurer, AFL-CIO, and many others to reflect on the policies and programs we will need at the federal and state levels to build an economy and society that uplift women and families.

It is my hope that you will be to join the event as our special guest. To RSVP, click here.

Now, more than ever, we hope to continue the work that gets women back to work and on the path to economic security and prosperity. Please consider making a donation today to aid us in this effort. Your support is vital in illuminating the issues most affecting women and families.

See you on the Frontlines,

Nicole
