This is our moment. This is our time. We congratulate President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their historic and hard fought win.

At IWPR, we are clear-eyed about the work ahead of us—rebuilding the economy and putting women back to work; strengthening our health and child care systems to meet the needs of families; and getting the pandemic under control so that we can fully re-open our schools, daycare centers, and businesses across the country.

I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the work of Stacey Abrams in Georgia, Black women organizers, communities of color in the battleground states, and everyday citizens that mobilized to make this victory possible. Stakes were high and they all rose to meet the occasion, undeterred by efforts to suppress their voices and votes.

I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work. We link arms with millions across the country who are ready to build a stronger, more equitable and inclusive democracy. It is within our reach.

Join us on Tuesday, November 11 at 1:00 p.m. EST for Build(ing) the Future: A Symposium on the Policies we need for an Equitable Future for Women & Families.

There, I will be joined by Fatima Goss Graves, President/CEO, National Women’s Law Center; Shilpa Phadke, Vice President, Women’s Initiatives, Center for American Progress; Rep. Brenda L. Lawrence, Liz Shuler, Secretary-Treasurer, AFL-CIO, and many others to reflect on the policies and programs we will need at the federal and state levels to build an economy and society that uplift women and families.

See you on the frontlines.

Best,
