Welcome to a special edition of FT Now! Today is ELECTION DAY 2020. Did you ever think it was going to get here? While tens of millions of Americans have already voted early, many more will head to the polls today to cast their ballots for President of the United States, on down to city council.
One trend we’re keeping a close eye on (and you should too!): Liberal activists and their plans to take to the streets of Washington, D.C. should things not go their way. According to a leaked organizing call, one of the group’s leaders, Patrick Young, talked about harassing members of Congress at airports and taking over government buildings. "We are going to be in a crisis," said Young, "but we want it to be one that we are creating."
In other words, buckle up, America! The nation’s capital could be in for a wild ride in the coming days.
But enough about that. Aside from the numerous Senate and Congressional races - not to mention the presidential - 11 governorships are on the ballot today:
