all radical progressives have been thinking since Joe Biden clinched the
presidential nomination: If he wins the White House, he'll have to do
what they say. According to Omar, that means things like enacting the
Green New Deal and Medicare For All.
Why You Should Care:
With the election just a few days away, voters deserve to know what
they'd be getting with a Joe Biden presidency. Hint: Not just a
"moderate" Democrat in the White House.

Gov. DeSantis Helps Create New Program To Fight Back Against Opioid
Crisis
What Happened:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis just announced a new multi-million dollar
effort to fight the opioid crisis and help people find jobs.
Why You Should Care:
The COVID-19 pandemic has made life difficult for many Americans, but
especially for addicts who may struggle more with the isolation that
comes with quarantine and social distancing. According to DeSantis,
overdoses are up 62% statewide from last year.

Hopefully, people struggling get the help that they need!

Gov. Abbott Signs Back-The-Blue Pledge In Houston
What Happened:
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed a pledge this week to support police
officers and spoke out against efforts to defund the police.
Why You Should Care:
As Gov. Abbott stated, calls to cut police budgets "are disgraceful" and
"reckless." He continued: "It invites crime into our communities and it
endangers law enforcement officers and their families."
What Happens Next:
The governor has called on the state legislature to pass laws that would
stop money from being diverted from law enforcement. For now, police
budgets seem safe in the Lone Star State.
