Dear John,

Recently we’ve heard a lot about the asylum crisis at the U.S. border, but HIAS is also working on other pressing refugee crises in the southern hemisphere – including one of the biggest displacement crises in the world today.

Turmoil in Venezuela continues to force people to flee, and the lack of a coordinated regional response is making it worse. Since August 26, in anticipation of new travel restrictions, thousands – including women with children, unaccompanied minors, and people with pressing health issues – have sought refuge in Ecuador.

In response to the new influx, HIAS Ecuador staff mobilized immediately, working around the clock to assess cases, help people get international protection and provide direct, cash-based interventions to those who qualify for them.

Guided by our Jewish values and history, HIAS is committed to supporting refugees with whatever they need to reach safety and freedom – whether they’re in Ecuador, Greece, Kenya or the United States. And our work depends entirely on the generosity of supporters like you. That’s why we’re counting on you to donate $18 or more right now to provide critical assistance to refugees and asylum seekers in their most urgent moment of need:

Click here to make a gift of $18 or more now to provide refugees and asylum seekers around the world with the legal aid and resettlement assistance they need to build new lives in safety.

We’re facing a hemisphere-wide refugee crisis in the Americas. HIAS is on the ground, leading the response in seven Latin American and Carribean countries, providing direct assistance to families and individuals of all ages fleeing violence and persecution.

We’re continuing to expand our work around the world to meet the growing need for refugee assistance, opening up new offices and getting teams on the ground in more countries. But none of this vital work on behalf of refugees, asylum seekers and their families would be possible without your continued support. Please, will you donate $X or more today to make sure we can continue extending a helping hand to those fleeing violence and persecution?
