MJ Hegar’s trip to Del Rio and Laredo tomorrow ought to be an apology tour.
She has madevillainizing our border patrol
<[link removed]>
,abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement
<[link removed]>
, and shutting down immigration detention centers a regular part of her stump
speech.

In June, MJ told a group: "When we are committing human rights violations on
our southern border, not only is it immoral, but it's also impacting our
ability to have influence globally. … We cannot lecture China on their
treatment of the Uyghurs. … We cannot start looking like the countries and the
governments that we are supposed to be the opposite of" (Cornyn Challenger
Equates U.S. Border Policies to Chinese Concentration Camps

).

Hegar has taken her talking points directly from national Democrats like New
York Senator Chuck Schumer -- who no one considers to be an expert on border
issues -- with the goal of painting immigration authorities as evil human
rights abusers. Senator Cornyn knows that’s not true.

On her quick photo op on the border this Sunday, we think MJ owes an apology
to the:

* 1,500 Border Patrol staff in the Del Rio Sector
<[link removed]>
who are responsible for preventing drug and human smugglers from crossing along
245 miles of the Rio Grande River and Lake Amistad that forms the border
between the U.S. and Mexico. The Del Rio Sector covers 47 counties, equating to
55,063 square miles of Texas, and reaches 300 miles into Texas from the
U.S.-Mexico border.

* 1,800 Border Patrol in Laredo
<[link removed]>
, whose mission is to “prevent terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering
the United States, as well as continuing its traditional mission of preventing
illegal aliens, smugglers, narcotics, and other contraband from entering the
country.” The Laredo Sector protects 171 miles of America’s Southwest border,
stretching from the U.S./Mexico border in Texas to the Oklahoma and Arkansas
state lines; and provides $80 million in salaries

* 1,950 U.S. CBP—Customs Field Officers in Laredo
<[link removed]>

* 198 folks in Del Rio
<[link removed]>
who supervise and care for those who came crossed our border illegally and are
awaiting their court hearing
MJ says these Texans are human rights abusers… the same as the Communist
Chinese agents committing genocide.

With 3 days left until Election Day, it’s time to make sure Texas voters know
exactly what MJ thinks of those who work along our border.
