Dear friends and allies,

Many of you have done so much to get out the vote and make our voices heard in these historic elections. We are at crossroads in our democracy and the results of these elections will chart the path of our nation, our communities, and our people for decades. This will not be easy. There have been many attempts by those against us to silence us, shun our voices, and exclude us, but we are here and we are standing up for ourselves and our communities. We will protect one another and we will not be intimidated. We will be ready to mobilize and take strategic, non-violent action to defend democracy.

As we fight to ensure that every vote is counted, we must remember that it is the people in our communities, our essential workers, our neighbors, and friends, that have helped guide us through this terrible pandemic. We will continue our fight locally. Transit workers and riders are joining together to fight for robust public transit systems statewide. And just yesterday, City Life/Vida Urbana and our partners were out on the streets, fighting to keep families in their homes. Higher ed activists also live-streamed a teach-in and made phone calls to the state legislature yesterday to send a clear message to policymakers that public higher education must be at least level-funded during this emergency.

Thank you for being a CLU partner and supporter. If you are in Massachusetts, you can still vote by mail, vote in-person early, or vote on election day. Today is the last day to vote early in person. For more, please check out this resource guide from our national Partnership for Working Families.

Please help us spread the word by sharing our Facebook posts as well as following and retweeting us on Twitter. You can also receive regular updates from CLU by signing up on our website.

Op-Ed: Don't Gut The MBTA During The Pandemic. Front-Line Workers Need It

We need a transit system that is reliable, affordable, and accessible, and we need it NOW. We recently relaunched the Public Transit Public Good coalition to demand that the FMCB roll back its proposed cuts to the MBTA. Read more about our campaign and how these cuts would affect our communities in a recent op-ed by Mike Vartabedian, Assistant Directing Business Representative, IAM District 15, and Olivia Nichols, Transit Justice Organizer, GreenRoots.

You, too, can tell the Fiscal and Management Control Board (FMCB) your transit story: Visit our website to take action and write directly to the FMCB.

Contact your legislators for the Guaranteed Housing Stability Act!
HELP WIN THE GUARANTEED HOUSING STABILITY ACT – HD.5018 in the Massachusetts State House. Tens of thousands of families across Massachusetts will be at risk of eviction when our State’s eviction moratorium expires tomorrow. This bill will prevent a massive surge of unjust evictions and foreclosures due to COVID-related debt, avoid hikes of rent and no-fault evictions as we recover from COVID-19, and help establish a Housing Stability & Recovery Fund to relieve small business owners. Here is how you can take action:

Thank you for reading and taking action!
