More than 75 million Americans—a third of registered voters—have already cast their ballots in this year’s election. Many more Americans will vote in person on Tuesday. As these in-person voters prepare to exercise their constitutional right, it’s critical that they are able to do so safely—without the fear of armed intimidation.

This year, we’ve witnessed increasing numbers of right-wing extremists using firearms when expressing anger or frustration at gun safety laws, shelter-in-place restrictions, and peaceful protests for racial justice.

Given this backdrop, it is possible that significant numbers of people will bring guns to polling places under the guise of preventing election fraud.

Last month, Giffords Law Center released a 50-state guide [[link removed]] intended to empower election officials to protect Americans from firearms intimidation and harassment at polling places. I went on MSNBC [[link removed]] to talk about our findings, which were also discussed in the Washington Post. [[link removed]]

Our attorneys are fighting every day to ensure that the Second Amendment right to bear arms does not overpower other rights—including the right to peaceably assemble, the right to vote, and most importantly, the right to live.
